Norteamericano nacido en San Diego, de 30 años, fotógrafo y con gran pasión en lo que hace, Dave Hill muestra un gran empeño en encapsular un estilo, su estilo.
Como bien dice él, su visión y espectro es amplio: “…me encanta hacer grandes y épicas composiciones digitales…por otra parte, suspiro por estar fuera, lejos de la computadora, sin equipo de iluminación volviendo al tipo de fotografía que me hizo en el primer lugar, el film blanco y negro…“

( Cabe destacar que Dave Hill ha rediseñado y agregado nuevo material a su portfolio a principios de Julio de este año, asique quienes no entraron a su website por mucho tiempo debido a lo poco actualizado que estaba, esta es una oportunidad para recorrerlo nuevamente. )

De hecho, su portfolio de fotografía y retoque digital es lo que lo ha echado a la fama, tanto en el ámbito como en la internet. No, no es HDR (high dynamic range), su técnica es la unión con cuidado de escena, objetos  y por sobre todo iluminación… potenciando este mix con un fino post-proceso, en la cual una de sus particularidades es la técnica de “Dodging & Burning“.

En el otro extremo se encuentras sus imágenes en film, con una suavidad y grano/ruido destacables. Ellas han sido registradas con un basto abanico de cámaras y films, entre ellos puedo mencionar el uso de films como Fuji Acros 100 ,  Fuji Neopan 1600, Ilford Delta 3200, y cámaras de 35mm como gran formato como las Leica M6, Bronica SQ-Ai (6×6), Mamiya 7ii 6×7) y Toyo 4x5cf.

Por último, para “estremecernos” y ala vez agradecer que haya profecionales como Dave Hill, él nos dá la oportunidad de ver en formato de video los backstage o detrás de escena de varias de sus producciones, en especial aquellas destinadas a publicidad.
